In a current interview with ETimes, Junaid openly talked about auditioning for Laal Singh Chaddha. Aamir earlier had publicly revealed this and now Junaid has thrown more light on it. He said, "I had actually auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddha, which Papa has talked about publicly, but it didn’t work out. Papa (Aamir Khan) was very keen that I do the film."

Aamir Khan 's son Junaid Khan recently made his debut with OTT giant Netflix's Maharaj. The film also stars Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey. The actor recently revealed that he auditioned for Aamir Khan's role in Laal Singh Chaddha.

Junaid Khan in Laal Singh Chaddha?

He said, "I had actually auditioned for Laal Singh Chaddha, which Papa has talked about publicly, but it didn’t work out. Papa (Aamir Khan) was very keen that I do the film."

Laal Singh Chaddha starring Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh and Naga Chaitanya, helmed by Advait Chandan was the official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks' iconic 1994 film Forrest Gump. The film did not perform well and tanked at the domestic box office.

Maharaj director Siddharth P Malhotra chose to cast Junaid in the film after seeing that audition. "It was this audition that Adi ( Aditya Chopra) and I saw, and what an audition that was... it was outstanding and if that clip can be released at some point in time, it would be great," he said.

Aamir had earlier mentioned that when Junaid came back from Los Angeles after studying theatre, he was prepping for the film and wanted Advait Chandan to do a test before the film's shoot started in full swing.

On the film front

On the work front, Junaid Khan recently made his debut with the Netflix film Maharaj. It also starred Jaideep Ahlawat and Shalini Pandey in key roles.

Junaid plays the role of a courageous journalist and dedicated social reformer Karsandas Mulji. The story focuses on his confrontation with a high priest, or Maharaj (portrayed by Jaideep Ahlawat), accused of sexually exploiting women devotees.
