The 42-year-old came down to Bollywood, making his big debut in Hindi cinema with Khoobsurat (2015) opposite Sonam Kapoor. His fanbase on both sides of the border grew manifold. He followed it up with another hit Bollywood film Kapoor & Sons in 2016. His extended cameo in Ae Dil Hai Mushkil in the same year was expected to cement his career in Bollywood.
Fawad, however had to return after the growing tensions on the border between the two nations post the Uri attack in 2016. Other artistes who gave up on Indian projects included Mahira Khan, Ali Zafar, and musicians like Atif Aslam, and Rahat Fateh Ali Khan.
The Bombay High Court had last year, dismissed a petition aiming to ban Pakistani artists from performing or working in India. This has re-opened the doors for Pakistani actors to take up Bollywood projects.
In the meantime, Fawad is currently awaiting the release of web series titled Bazrakh opposite his Zindagi Gulzar Hai co-star Sanam Saeed. The Pakistani star was also seen in The Legend of Maula Jatt (2022) and Ms. Marvel (2022).
If Fawad Khan's Bollywood comeback with this film happens, it would be his return to Hindi cinema after eight years.
