Roof Leakage on Delhi-Varanasi Vande Bharat Train Sparks Backlash
A video showing water dripping from the roof of a semi-high-speed Vande Bharat train has gone viral on social media, triggering a massive backlash from viewers. The train, running from Delhi to Varanasi, had water leaking from its roof, prompting passengers to voice their complaints on the microblogging site X. “This is the condition of the Vande Bharat train running from New Delhi to Varanasi. Water is dripping from the roof. People are not able to sit in their seats. The price charged for the Vande Bharat train is high, but the service is poor,” said X user Shamir Rizvi.
“New facility added in Vande Bharat train... if you forget to shower in the morning, no worries, Railways are helping you,” commented another user, Abhay. Similarly, Anjali Singhania wrote, “Condition of the best train in India, Vande Bharat. Development & innovation ‘paani me gaya’ quite literally!”
Another user humorously noted, “Vande Bharat, the first train with a shower. Passengers can now bathe while sitting in the rainy season.”
The DRM of Delhi Northern Railways reacted to the video and tagged DRM Lucknow (NR) to address the issue.
In response, the DRM Lucknow X handle wrote, “The department concerned has been informed about the matter.”
Later, the DRM Lucknow X handle updated that a slight water leakage was observed in the coach due to a temporary blockage of pipes. “The issue was attended to and rectified by the staff on the train. The inconvenience caused is regretted,” the message read.
