Pune: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts a generally cloudy sky with moderate rainfall expected on Tuesday. The maximum temperature is forecast to be around 30 degrees Celsius, with a minimum temperature around 22 degrees Celsius.
Weekly Forecast
Pune's weather over the next week shows a consistent pattern of generally cloudy skies, with moderate rain expected from July 2 through July 5. The trend continues into July 6 and July 7, with rain anticipated on both days. Residents should be prepared for a week characterised by cloudy conditions and occasional showers, especially towards the end of the week. It's advisable to stay updated on weather alerts and plan activities accordingly to navigate potential disruptions caused by the rainy weather.
Rainfall Data
As per a TOI report, on Monday, Shivajinagar received 0.7 mm of rainfall, while Pashan recorded 1.9 mm. In Lavale, there was 2.5 mm of rainfall, and Lohegaon saw 1.2 mm. These amounts fall well below the moderate rainfall threshold, as defined by the IMD for Pune.According to SD Sanap, a scientist at IMD-Pune, the disparity in rainfall between the ghat areas and the city is due to the proximity of the offshore trough to the ghats and coastal regions. Clouds moving inland tend to lose moisture, resulting in reduced precipitation over interior Maharashtra.
Recent days in Pune have been marked by cloudy conditions and light drizzles in the city. Sanap noted a potential change in weather patterns ahead, suggesting light to moderate showers are expected around July 3–4, though heavy rain isn't anticipated for interior regions.
Rainfall data until 5:30 pm on July 1 highlights stark differences: Lonavla received 39.5mm, contrasting sharply with urban areas like Koregaon Park, which only received 0.5mm. Other notable figures include Malin (11.5mm), Nimgiri (4mm), Rajgurunagar and Talegaon (3.5mm each), and Khed (3mm).
