Greater Noida: A woman's husband was murdered nearly five years after their marriage, allegedly in a case of honour killing orchestrated by her own family in Greater Noida. The incident, which occurred around two weeks ago, has shocked the community.

The woman had married against her family's wishes five years ago and had been living separately. Recently, her family extended an invitation to her husband under the guise of reconciliation, inviting him for drinks. However, upon his return home, he was brutally strangled to death by a contract killer hired by his wife's family, according to the police. It was revealed that the family had even mortgaged their jewellery to finance the crime.

The victim's body was discovered on June 16 near Surajpur police line in Greater Noida, prompting an immediate police investigation. Subsequently, the woman's father, uncle, and two contract killers were arrested by the police, though two additional suspects remain at large. Police have confiscated crucial evidence including the murder weapon—a towel—as well as the vehicle used in the crime and the jewellery that was mortgaged to pay the killers.

Police officials have assured that efforts are underway to arrest the remaining accused and bring them to justice.

A 28-year-old bouncer named Anuj was shot dead on Friday evening in Gurugram's Sector 65. He was heading home to Ullasgaon when two attackers, wearing t-shirts with a food delivery service logo, chased him. CCTV footage showed them firing over 15 rounds at him. Anuj’s family is in shock, saying he had no known enemies. They believe the attack was planned, with the assailants possibly stealing the delivery bike and uniform to disguise themselves.
